I Like Thursday: September 17, 2020

I'm tired these days.  Brad's back is still giving him problems and he's agreed to try acupuncture for it.  Sciatica can be debilitating and he has a bad case.  Nights are rough for him which means they are rough for all of us.

Today is Thursday and it's "I like Thursdays" hosted by LeeAnna.  We try to fill up the internet with positive energy and for happy thoughts visit LeeAnna's website to see all the posts!

Last week my friend Susie gifted me two blackwing pencils.  I love these pencils, a lot of famous artists used them and one of my favorite writers, John Steinbeck.

They are pencils to celebrate the suffrage centennial and each pencil features 19 stars for the 19th Amendment!

Speaking of suffrage, I heard this week from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.  They sponsor a garden competition each year.  My Suffrage Garden was honored as "A Garden of Distinction."  This made my day!
One of the most satisfying parts of this garden this year has been the visitors.  Just when I thought there couldn't be anyone left to gawk at the garden, we had more visitors last night.  They read all the signs and when I open the door to wave at them, they gave me a thumbs up and yelled, "Love the idea and the sentiment!"

The garden is tired at this point too.  Today I need to start fall trimming and clean-up.  It's cooler these days which means Scout and I are taking longer walks and returning to the park.

Stay safe and have a great week!

Good morning, Michele! How wonderful that your garden was recognized. You've put a LOT of hard work into it and it is so nice for that to get noticed. {{Hugs}} I'm excited for you. I've never heard of Blackwing pencils but how nice of your friend to think of you with these special ones. I sure hope the acupuncture works for Brad (and you). It's so hard to rest when you're in pain. I'll bet Scout is enjoying the cooler weather and the long walks! Happy Thursday to you, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne

I’m so sorry Brad is still suffering! Hope the acupuncture works! Congratulations on the garden recognition! Love the little statue in the photo. I’ll have to back tract to see more about your suffrage garden. I didn’t know about blackwing pencils either! Fun! Hope your week continues according to plan!

A well deserved honor for your garden. I know that I am one of many that stopped by to visit. I hope you and Brad soon get a good night's sleep. Without it, days are miserable too. Best wishes.

Congrats on your garden honor! I' hoping to get up to Paducah to see my quilt at the NGM before it moves on. I went to a quilt shop Monday and forgot to use my gift card!

That is thrilling that your garden was recognized as it should be. It is very special indeed.
Do hope your hubby feels better soon...living with pain is very difficult and for the partner too.
