I Like Thursday and a Giveaway! October 31, 2019

Happy Halloween!

Our favorite trick or treater was Gavin, he's my friend's grandson.  He's was dressed as a sloth.  Isn't he adorable?

As you can tell from our first photo, the leaves are finally turning.  We also have been getting frequent rains and with the current warm weather, we've had some nice reblooms like the foxgloves!  Some flowers I picked and put in my new vase.  It's raining today and I wanted something nice things in the house to cheer the day.

We have a bird living in our backyard.  It's a small mourning dove and I am not sure what happened to it but I'm fairly sure there is something wrong with it's wing.  He's been living in the backyard for over a week.  I've been making sure he has water and there are always seeds on the ground here in our garden.  Please don't tell me to catch him and help him, I've already tried.
I ended up resolving that he is somewhat safe here at Hotel Michele.  He has food and water and I did see he managed to get up on the garage roof at one point.  Birdie is safe here.  Scout has no idea he is here (she's a bit obtuse to put it mildly) and he is safe in our garden from the ferrel cats.  Hopefully his wing will heal during his stay here.

A Giveaway!

This week on our suffrage blog we had a feature on suffrage and animals.  As part of that theme, we are offering a giveaway of a charm pack of woof woof meow fabric and the book. It's Quilting Cats and Dogs.  To compete for the prize, just leave a message on the blog post here.

Hope you are enjoying the autumn where you are and Happy Halloween!

And so would have our dear little Scout!
Head on over to the blog to see the neat cats and dogs we feature!!!

I Like Thursdays: October 24, 2019

Good Morning!  How are you doing this week?

I'm looking forward to a week off from lectures!
I like to sleep in the dark and so apparently does my puppy:
Scout is always hiding her face to sleep, a trait she shared with our dog Seamus who used to stick his head under the couch to sleep!
She cracks me up!

We've been getting rain storms again! And that always means a new flush of roses!

Before travel began, I was working on thinning my fabric stash.  I had some fabric in a pile to take to the guild for the "free table" when I noticed that some fabrics were the favorite colors of my friend Linda's Mom so I assembled an easy quilt top to give her:

Hopefully I'll get this top and some others to the quilter in the next week!
Have a great day!

I Like Thursdays: October 17, 2019

Greetings and Salutations!  How are you doing?  Here are some likes for this week:

Scout and her friend Luca.  Luca is moving out of our neighborhood and Scout will miss him terribly.  Luca's mommy and I are going to arrange playdates because they truly love each other.  Scout used to cry at the window when Luca walked by.  We will miss both Luca and Lisa!

I joke that I collect antique quilts because I am a mediocre quilter.  My friend Carol got me this t-shirt and it is a real hoot!  I love it:

New sheers for the window!  I decided to replace them this year.  I actually moved here in the late 90s with this sheers and it was well past time.  They are actually white instead of dingy grey!  Made doing the fall cleaning more rewarding!!!

Hope you are having a great week! Check out more positive posts at LeeAnna's!

I Like Thursdays: October 10, 2019

Happy Positive Thursday!!!
Be sure to check out other "I Like" posts over at LeeAnna's!
I like that my husband has been home the entire time I've had to be off my sprained ankle!  He's walked Scout for me and that has been a big help.  I'm still not able to take her for a walk but I'm doing much better!
I like this new vase that my friend Beth gave me.  It has a frog on the top of the vaseline glass which makes it easier to arrange flowers!

Scout likes it too!
I'm not sure if these are the last flowers I'll be able to pick this season.  Hopefully it will warm up a bit so that we can get another crop of roses.  Right now just one rose has filled my home with the wonderful aroma!
The other day I had to go to the doctor on the outskirts of town.  The air was full of the scent of apples.  When I was a kid, the rural area outside of town was full of orchards.  Even though I couldn't see the apple trees, I knew there was an old orchard left somewhere.  It's such a distinct scent!

Beth and I did the By the Chimney No More program in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania this past week.  I love the new dress form she got to display a suffragists' garb.  Isn't this neat?

I like seeing my friends and I had a lot of visitors as I rested my ankle.  Linda came earlier in the week and Diana came on Thursday.  She brought some old cards and photos that her mother had stashed away and we spent the day looking through them and reminiscing!  Don't you just love these old illustrations?

I hope you have a wonderful day!

I like Thursdays: October 3, 2019

Hello and Welcome to I Like Thursdays!  Hosted by LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color, visit our friends who bring sunshine to our world each week!

What's new in your world?  We are getting some much needed rain.  It's only a light rain but we'll take it.  Hopefully it will continue throughout much of the day.

We like our dog friends!  Tinkerbell came to visit on Saturday.  I still can't walk on my ankle and so Scout enjoyed some friend time with Tink.

It's the end of an era here.  Our neighbors Denise and Ken have finally taken down their swing set.  We have so many good memories of the kids (the youngest is a sophmore in college) playing there.

Our granddaughter Helena is the smallest fairy.
These photos are 10 years old!!

I've been working on handwork this past week.  Finished binding this quilt and working on some embroidery blocks now.

My mom has been showering my friend Beth and I with suffrage gifts lately.  Look at the bracelets she bought for each of us!
The charms are each suffrage posters!  We are thrilled!  We'll be traveling to Wilkes-Barre next week to visit the Pennsylvania Quilters and give our trunk show that highlights women's suffrage!  We'll be sure to wear our bracelets!!!

I hope you have a great week!  Stay positive!
