Checking in...

It's been too lovely to be in the house and I keep forgetting to blog because it is gorgeous in the morning here.

Hubby and I have been doing much needed work on the exterior of our house.  I know that the real dog days of summer will be with us soon so while we can we are weeding, pruning, power washing, and painting.

Wishing you a safe and happy weekend!

I Like Thursdays: June 17, 2021

It's "I like Thursdays" and time to post some happy thoughts onto the internet!  Visit other participating bloggers at our hostess' website sponsored by Lee Anna here!

We are grateful for the cooler weather this week and Scout and her friends have been having some wonderful visits!

The good weather means that I've been working outside!  It's good to get things pruned and weeded!  My husband finally purchased a power washer and has been working on the exterior of the house.  I've only been nagging him about this for 5 years so I'm pleased as punch!

Our neighbor asked if I had a homemade baby quilt that she could buy.  I didn't want money for the quilt and was happy to give her one.  She and her husband wanted to something in return so they got me some garden art (which lights up at night!) and a new toy for Scout!  Thanks Nancy and Dave!

We have a bevy of bunnies in our garden.  Just when we thought all the baby bunnies had moved out of the garden, we had 4 more adults in the garden looking to nest!  Scout doesn't know what to make of this invasion this summer but we are enjoying it!

Wishing you a fun and happy weekend!

To-Do Tuesday: June 15, 2021

 It's To-Do Tuesday!

Time to post goals for this week!

Last week's goals included finishing the binding of Jessica's quilt!  It look great on her porch bed!  The dogs like it too...Scout loves the porch bed and will park herself there whenever possible.  Cuddling with Jessica (and her treats) doesn't hurt either!  And of course Scout loves to be with her boyfriend Mack (the border collie).

I hit a snafu this past week with my bird blocks.  I finished my hourglass blocks and then I finished my half square triangles but I felt uneasy---like I forgot to do something.  I did forget to do something!! I forgot to review the directions again before I sewed my patches.  So now I have 120 HSTs that I can't use for the quilt and I'm almost out of the aqua scraps I had used to make them 😒

Fortunately, Connecting Threads still has this fabric and I ordered more!  Plus I decided to order some backing fabric in this fabric so I have to wait until that arrives before I can resume work on this piece.

In the meantime, I hope piece some more baby quilt tops because I had donated a lot of them recently to friends and I always like to keep some on hand.  So that will be my sewing project for the next week.

In the garden, this week I need to prune my rhododendrons and do some other maintenance.  So I'll be busy working away.

I hope you are having a wonderful week and enjoying the good weather!  Linking up to Chrisknits and please visit the other bloggers there!

Have a safe and happy day!

I Like Thursdays: June 10, 2021

It's "I like Thursdays" and time to post some happy thoughts onto the internet!  Hosted by Lee Anna, join or visit the many bloggers who participate by visiting Lee Anna's website here!

I like that I remembered that today is Thursday!  Last week I was more than a little confused on the days of the week because of the holiday!

Happily, Mom's trees that fell have been removed from the property and I even met with the appraiser this week!

We had a heatwave for most of this week and I was able to bind two quilts which makes me soooo happy!  Photos of them coming up soon!

My garden is a bit overgrown at this time.  I've already given two wagons full of plants to my neighbor.  Today my brother is coming up from Maryland and I'll be filling his truck with more plants!  I'm happy to be seeing him and happy to pass along some plants!

The baby bunnies that were being raised in our back garden are now big enough to scamper through our garden and soon will be leaving the nest permanently.  The little ones are driving Scout a bit crazy.  I like that she has actually listened to me when I yell "leave it" and left the bunnies alone.  She doesn't like that command but she is listening!

It is finally a cooler day and I'm off to walk Scout and work in the garden.  Have a safe and happy day!

Tuesday To-Do List: June 8, 2021

Ahh, Pennsylvania...one week 40 degree weather, the next a 90 degree heatwave!

One good thing about the heatwave, I've been spending more time indoors sewing.  Last week I hoped to finish binding Jenny's quilt and my hour glass blocks for the bird quilt.  Both are done!

This week I'm hoping to finish binding Jessica's quilt and at least marking my half square triangle blocks.  It's pretty warm in the sewing room so any handwork I can do on the main floor will be worthwhile!

Have a safe and happy day!

To-Do-Tuesday: June 1, 2021

Good morning!  Today is To-Do-Tuesday and time to post goals for the week.  Linking up to  Chrisknits  and hope to view what others are working on (you can too--follow the link).

I did work on my list a bit last weekend when I could.  We had storms last week and Mom sustained some damage at her house so we've been over there a lot.

All my goals last week are the same as this week:
--Continue binding Jenny's quilt.  I made a little progress.  It's not even a big  quilt but I frequently get interrupted.

--Work on my bird star blocks:

I'm just working on the hourglass blocks but it is coming along.  It takes longer than I expected to get 48 of just those done but I should get more done this week as it is supposed to rain more!

Hope you are making progress on your projects as well!  Have a safe and happy day!
