I Like Thursdays: December 18, 2025

2 days until winter!

It's "I like Thursdays" and time to fill the internet with some much needed positive things.  What do you like today?

It snowed Saturday night into Sunday.  I don't mind these storms as much anymore.  I found something I really like:

They are called Yaxtrax and you adhere them to your shoes or boots for traction in ice and snow.  AND THEY WORK!

As a senior, I'm always concerned about a fall impeding my freedom.  Couple that with the fact that my dog will not go to the bathroom without walking for a while--it could be trecherous.  I'm still careful with the Yaxtrax on my boot but I have to tell you, I've never slipped with them on.

I like my humidifier.  We haven't had one in a while and it's really helping.  When I was a kid, I remember my grandmother putting pans of water on her radiators to keep moisture in the air.  But her radiators were 2-3 times the depth of mine.  I'm really noticing a big difference since I began using mine.

Lana's prompt this week is:  "Do you like red and green? does it lift your spirits? what shades do you like best?

I do love red and green at the holidays. I especially like the vintage red and green from the 50s and early 60s.

After the holidays, I still have to admit I love red.  I wasn't quilting with it often because it bothered my eyes (it doesn't anymore).  I would have to say the one color I don't like is orange (sorry autumn people).

I'm hoping to do a red and pink quilt in the new year.  Anyway, that is all I have for this week!

Have a safe and happy weekend!

My winter boots have these traction thingies on them permanently and they work great. Like you, I can't risk a fall and icy spots are everywhere here in winter time. I love that old timey kind of red and green too. They look like the traditional colours of Christmas to me. I think they were what I would have grown up with. Anyway, Merry Christmas from me, Michele.

I'm glad your found the traction you need for your walks I just wish we would get a good storm here - I keep hoping. I love red and green whether it's in nature, in antique quilts, in Christmas quilts, or in decor. I like orange but I'm not too fond of that antique gold color in fabrics, it just muddles everything. Happy Holidays

I've heard those YaxTrax are handy for winter walking. I don't have a dog to walk, but still like to get out and walk even in winter - I should check them out. I like red and pink together, too - would you add another color?

Michele - I have used Traxx on my boots ever since moving to Montana, and they are a life-saver! We might need to invest in a humidifier - I have been feeling really dried out lately despite drinking lots of water! Merry Christmas to you and yours! (Joining you from I Like Thursday)

Yaktrax are great. You do have to be careful on slate or tiled surfaces - the traxx are slippery on that, oddly enough.
