It's "I Like Thursday" hosted by LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color! Today we fill the internet with positive energy and gratitude.
Scout and I like doggie playdates. Scout went to visit her boyfriend Mack this week. She loves Mack, isn't he cute?
But as it turns out Scout-The-Hussy loves Roger (Mack's Dad) even more. In fact, she adores all men. We were all scattered around the front porch and watched in fascination--and glee--as Scout learned a new trick.
Scout learned fairly quickly that if Mack approaches Roger for a nice pet, all Scout had to do to divert Mack was bark once (they weren't even real barks). Mack would then abandon Roger to guard the porch and then...Scout would have Roger all to herself😉
She did this over and over again, relishing in her new power and testing various barks (the most hilarious was a quiet 'woof' which still got the reaction she wanted). It was a great night!

I like that it has been raining. I can't really work in the garden right now as my husband is having some sciatica issues and needs me. Hopefully he will be better by the weekend when the humidity dissipates.

Most of time these past weeks has been in the garden. Critters continue to visit, including a return of the fox and now an opossum.
Opossums are actually helpful in the garden. They eat ticks and mice and don't carry rabies.
My quest to make the garden more elder-friendly continues. With some assistance from Linda, I now planted heather as a base foundation plant.
Unfortunately my last tea rose now shows signs of Rose Rosette disease and will be removed from this bed this fall. I'll move my pretty butterfly bush this fall when it's cooler to the hydrangea bed and just put annuals in the bed next year. It's a fun process to redo flower beds and I'm enjoying it!
That's all I have this week. Have to check on hubby again and awaiting for a call back from the doctor this morning.
Have a safe and happy week!

Oh how fun, to watch our pets interact. We don’t have a pet currently, but like visiting all the neighborhood dogs as they walk by our house! We have cats that visit too, but most don’t think they are welcome, so dash off when spoken to.
Is heather the same as lavender? I’ve been thinking about trying to incorporate more perennials in our small beds. Annuals usually require so much maintenance. Our city uses lavender in a lot of plantings.
Hi Michele! Oh, Scout - that is hilarious. I would have enjoyed hearing her bark for Mack. She got to enjoy Roger all to herself for the most part. That's pretty darn clever. It will be interesting to hear if she does it again on the next visit - will she remember? I'll bet she will. Oh gosh, I'm sorry about DH's sciatica. What a PIA, literally. I hope it passes soon. ~smile~ Roseanne
Scout is one smart girl. I have finally figured out if Bobbin is not listening I tell her down, she flips over for a belly rub, even in the pouring rain. Sorry about the sciatica, makes for lots of extra work for you too. I was gardening and discovered ground bees where I was pulling tall weeds. Cannot locate the entrances of their hive so will be a while before I go back to that job. Your garden is looking lovely.
I just had to smile reading about Scout. She is very smart!
I looked up sciatica and it sounds exceptionally painful. Hope it abates soon.
Such critters in the yard heh. We have yet to put up our trail cam...a roundtoit problem. I wonder what we will see!
Lovely garden you are making there, Michele.
Love love love your garden. Scout’s pretty smart! I sure hope hubby is better soon. I’ve had sciatica issues many times.
Enjoy your garden!
Scout is a smart girl! She knows just whose attention she wants! Hope your hubby starts feeling better soon. I always enjoy seeing what you're doing in your garden!
Scout the hussy. LOL Love that. Yay for rain. I didn't know that possums eat mice, too. I caught a bobcat going through the yard today! Rob says we need to get a trail cam, too - who knows what we'd see go by.
I hope your husband is feeling better. Your garden is always fun to see. Scout is very funny!
Poor Mac. Scout is so much smarter!
