Thanks for all the phone calls and emails but don't worry. Dad is in PERU, not Chile. For once he is in a safer place!!! Still can't wait for my favorite pillow to get back...

Been busy!

Haven't been posting because I have been soooo busy these days. Wish I had accomplished more but I seem to be rushing from one place to another these days. Tomorrow we are expecting a wintry mix and I think I might need to take a day off and stay home!

It's Fastnachts Day!

Ahhh, anyway you say it--Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, or Fastnacht Day (pronounced fost-nokts) is here! The Pennsylvania Dutch in my region celebrate Fastnacht Day (I think the translation of this is 'fast night') with powdered donuts. Don't know about you, but I will always accept a donut. So eat up troops, fasting starts tomorrow! :)

Queen of the Cart!

We have a little game we like to play called "Queen of the Cart" ; it's not unlike 'queen for a day.' If you get a REALLY good bargain with coupons or at an exceptional price, you get to be "queen of the cart." This week I got to be the queen with this exceptional deal. I was shopping for something else and stumbled upon this pink wool coat ---just perfect for Helena to wear for Easter and a nice extra present for her birthday this week...

I love the little pattern on it, the little roses and it comes with a hat!!!!

And I be the queen of the cart for getting this deliciuos set at a reasonable $7!!!!!

PS--can you believe we gave this to Helena today and I forgot to take my camera??? Well anyway she loved the coat and all her other gifts and wore the coat and hat while we visited :)

This was about 10 am. We have another 12-14 inches since then.... Teddy in the back yard:

Little Brothers

I know ALL about little brothers; I have two of my own. If you've ever seen the commercial with the little girl warning her brother, "no touching," than you pretty much know the relationship between my bro Jayme and me as kids. We took bickering to new levels. I guess that is why I find Paddie's relationship with the boy puppies so entertaining. Note Seamus' position as Paddie prepares to eat her meal. Granted, if this was Teddy, Paddie would have already chased him away. She seems more receptive to the younger Seamus--probably because he has such a calm energy--and just growls and ignores him. Seamus innocently pretends to have just casually decided to lay down there to sleep...

Seamus warily eyes the piece of kibble Paddie has dropped (slightly right of the bowl). He continues to remain still.
"Paddie Mama, is that a cat over there?"
"What? I'm just laying here getting ready to sleep."

How many days til Spring?

We've got about 7 inches of snow so far and it is still falling. It is a fine snow so drifting will be an issue as well. Last night I got the Maggie Report from Maryland (Maggie is my niece) and she said they had about 6 inches at 9:30 p.m. already.

Actually I love being snowed in! I love good sewing days when no one expects anything from me. I have three more blocks to finish for a spring project and want to make some placemats. Should be a good day to get some things done!
