A new year...

The nieces have gone home!  This is them before their New Year's Eve party!  I'm taking this photo in for my mom at the hospital, I hope it will make her smile.
This was a new treat for our family this year which I found on a blog.  Recipes can be found here.
I'm trying to keep a lot of handwork around to do at the hospital.  I'm working on a redwork Christmas quilt when I can.  I know the holiday is over but it is relaxing to embroider!
Other than that, not much to report.  I hope all of you are doing well and keeping yourself warm and busy!  Take care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hem your blessings

I found this great  quote:
"Hem your blessings with thankfulness so they don't unravel." (Author Unknown) on the web one day.
2010 has been a very challenging year for us but thankfully, our children are happy and healthy despite the struggles this year.

My mom is back in the hospital so DH and I are monitoring her situation and also my nieces who were visiting her when she got so sick again. Last night Uncle Brad made the girls shrimp stirfry and I taught Christina to embroider:

We wish everyone in blog land a healthy and safe holiday and new year of peace and plenty.  Please be careful if you are going out this New Year's Eve!!!!
Hugs, Nana Mickie, family and poodles

a fun day with christina!

Yesterday my husband and I spent some quality time with our niece, Christina. DH actually even took us to a fabric store and read his magazine (in the car) while we shopped for fabric for her quilt. Then we took Christina to our friends' farm. Christina volunteers at a farm that rescues horses so she was excited to meet Linda and Jim's three horses. She enchanted everyone and we all had a great time together!!! Thanks Christina for such a wonderful day!

My girls...

My nieces, Maggie and Christina surprised us with a visit yesterday! They did their first road trip yesterday (Maggie just got her driver's license this year). Don't let their beauty fool you--these two farm girls hunt, fish, horseback ride and are brilliant. Today we are going out fabric shopping; each of them need new quilts--Maggie for her dorm room (she is going to college a year early and graduates this May) and Christina has a lime room and needs a quilt for her bed. Nothing like being with the girls, shopping for fabric...it doesn't get much better!
Have a great day!
