I Like Thursdays: August 13, 2026

Good morning and welcome to another edition of "I like Thursdays" sponsored by Lee Anna of Not Afraid of Color .

This week our family is happy to hear that Tony, one of our family's dogs, is responding very well to treatment of his lymphoma.  Apparently he has the more treatable form of the disease and is already perking up!  Yeah Tony!

I have 4 more blocks to make for my "Twinkle" quilt and I can't wait to start piecing it together!

Family members are taking my mother to the beach for 6 days.  She leaves on Sunday and we've been getting her ready to go.  The family decided my brother and I needed a break...and we do!
Every day I go over for the morning rotation to care for her.  My brother does afternoon and see seems to be okay for the evening (sometimes not and then I go back).

So next week I should actually be able to piece my quilt and get some things ready before my hand surgery later this month.

This week's prompt is do we read magazines or books in the summer?  I tend to read magazines (mostly quilting) that friends send over.  When I read books or even sometimes watching tv, I fall asleep so I try to keep moving until everything is done.  What do you do in the summer?

Stay safe and...

Love that first meme! I hope your mom enjoys her trip, and so glad you'll get a break, too. Quilting magazines are fun - lots of inspiration in them!

I also love that first meme! Love the dog in hospital
gown! Speedy healing to dog. Great that you will get a break and a bit of time for yourself. Wonderful that you and brother take such good care of your mom.

I don't know why but that little S for sew picture really draws my attention. I appreciate your posts and I'm glad you can get a little breather from your caregiving. Everybody needs a break once in a while
