I Like Thursdays: April 9, 2020

Good Morning!  How are you doing?  We are holding our own here at Poodle Cottage.  The days continue to be warmer.  Last night we had the first thunder storm of the season and it created quite a light show in the sky!

I like some simple things this week.  I have been cleaning out nooks and drawers every few days and discovering things I had forgotten about.  One was a scarf that was torn but I stuck it in a cupboard so I could cut the buttons off.  The buttons looked to me like mother of pearl and I was surprised when I turned the buttons over and found they were actually made of shells!
I continue to cut Scout's hair and tackled her back so that I could at least get her tick medicine on her.  It looks okay for now.
We still go on long walks and I'm enjoying just getting out and seeing what is blooming.  I wear a mask, not simply because of COVID-19 but because the trees are blooming and I'm allergic.  Scout loves her walks but she loves front porches even more.  Brad was walking Scout last week and  I'm home and doing dishes and get this text:
She had climbed on Jessica's porch and her daughter sent me this text.  Looks really happy and comfy there, doesn't she?  The little traitor...

The color is off a bit on this photo but it's another "someday project" finished.  This will look cute hanging up near my retro inspired kitchen!  I have only two more quilts to bind and they are baby quilts at that.

Mostly I'm doing the same thing you are, making masks.  I like that some of the elderly women in the neighborhood donated elastic because the elastic masks are quicker to make than the tie ones!  Tomorrow I have to take a break and wash more fabric and I MUST clean the sewing room.  I've been sewing so much that Scout's velcro fur is collecting threads and scraps whenever she hangs out in the sewing room! 😜

There isn't much on tv that I find inspiring these days so I just put HGTV on in the background while I'm sewing in the evening.  What are you watching?

Other than that, we are fine and hoping to be able to work in the garden soon (pollen permitting).  Stay in, stay safe and stay healthy friends!  Have a wonderful day!

HG or DIY are my standby watching, but I'm getting tired of some of those re-runs, too! Then I tune to the light jazz music channel.

Hi Michele! I think you have a new calling in trimming Scout's fur. That photo showing her collecting bits of thread, etc. from the sewing room just cracks me up. We often listen to HGTV for background noise, although a few shows drive me nuts. We've also been enjoying the Hallmark Mystery channel. Stay safe and take care. ~smile~ Roseanne

Milo is getting gray in complete areas now. I know sometimes it takes a couple years. His tummy and face are very light we noticed when we shaved him this week. We had a lot of hot weather, but snow predicted for Sunday. He isn't a blue like Scout but he has a lot more gray than Cole ever had... makes him distinguished, right? Am I right? Men are distinguished with some gray lol

Scout doesn't get distancing, and is used to a certain level of snuggling with neighbors. Lucky girl... but it's hard to understand the distance thing for a poodle. Apparently it's hard for humans to get in our 'hood. Stubbornly still visiting and playing ball and carousing as if there is no health risk. We avoid them

Hi Michele, that is a very cute photo of Scout looking very cosy with another woman! Love your retro hanging and that you are having spring happening around you. Kudos for the mask making.

Those are such pretty flowers, and I love the shell buttons, too! I think you're doing a great job cutting Scout's hair. We have a friendly golden retriever down the street from us who likes to come and visit now and then. I always appreciate a friendly snuggle with him! I get your neighbor did, too!

ROFL poor Scout, I bet she is awesome at dust mopping. My daughter brought her cat over, where that cat accumulated the spiderwebs and dust bunnies a matter of moments is beyond me. Great likes, oh the violets are gorgeous. Love the buttons they are gorgeous too.

Neat buttons. Scout looks very comfy on that porch. I have to chuckle at Scout's scrappy coat.
