It's Fastnachts Day!

Ahhh, anyway you say it--Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, or Fastnacht Day (pronounced fost-nokts) is here! The Pennsylvania Dutch in my region celebrate Fastnacht Day (I think the translation of this is 'fast night') with powdered donuts. Don't know about you, but I will always accept a donut. So eat up troops, fasting starts tomorrow! :)

Ah Fat Tuesday - so named because of all the paczki's we eat, lol. Not really, but we sure do love them! They're traditional Polish donuts and they're delicious. Filled with all different fillings - my favorite is rasberry. We have a very large Polish population here near Detroit and that's how I got hooked. They're pronounced poonchkey. And I need to go fill up a big bag before they're all gone! Have a lovely day!

What a cute dish towel. One of my aunts collected hippos for several years We still get a laugh out of her huge hippo collection.
