Fairy Treasure Hunt

The photos pretty much tell the story of the Garden Fairy Treasure Hunt at Nana's this past week.  Unfortunately, I can't rotate the above photo (blogger decided it is going to post it this way despite even my cropping efforts).  The welcome sign is what the girls made on Tuesday to encourage the Fairies to come to the garden.  The girls had so much fun and it kept Helena occupied while I cared for Miles who wasn't feeling so well.

Images to warm us up!

It seems to be cold all over the U.S. today! So I thought I would post some pics that warm me up inside :)

Like a serene sleeping grandson.........(isn't he beautiful???)
One could play hide and seek inside, but Seamus tends to stand and stare at people that hide which ruins the game a bit...
Of course there is always torturing the dogs! Teddy doesn't mind it so much though...
Stay warm today!

Dog Ball

I was sick all of us last week which meant I had two very bored puppies at home. Fortunately Katie and Natalie were kind enough to play Dog Ball with the boys.
Seamus becomes so happy he squeals and whines with joy.
Teddy however, prefers to preen and poise. He likes to remind the girls: "I have a ball and you don't!"

Not Seamus--he will retrieve and drop the ball for anyone with those wonderful opposable thumbs that allow them to throw that ball.
Thanks girls for exercising the boys!

Fairies in the Garden

Katie and Natalie were kind enough to include Helena in the fairy fest yesterday!

The "I'm so proud to be playing with the big girls smile" Helena wears everytime she plays with the older girls--er fairies.

The fairies had a wonderful afternoon of play, swings, hide and seek, kick ball and even t-ball!
Teddy (lower right corner) checks out the fairies.
Even Fairies and their friends need freeze-pop breaks! How lucky are we at 3P and N to have such wonderful garden friends!!!

crafting in the garden

Helena and Katie were crafting in the garden yesterday! Making some awesome birdhouses for little birds.
They did a great job too! But they are little birdhouses---one of the funniest things I heard was Katie's big brother suggested her birdhouse hang aside of the bigger one he made a year or two ago. He said: "it could be the garage for mine" :D
The girls did a great job......

And as usual our little magpie, Helena, chatted the whole time !!!

Be Mine

Friday Journal: I am always exhausted after a Helena day and so is she. People can't believe all that we can fit in a single day. Like today during our Valentine preparations......
There was some baking to be done by a little girl and her little rolling pin.
There were sprinkles to be taste-tested.....

Special cookies to be made for family. Like this one made especially for Pop-pop...his was the second biggest she made. The biggest one she ate after lunch. She told me: "I was born to eat this cookie."
There were valentines to be made (check out the one that is hung to the left of the hutch). And Nanagram came to visit as well.
There were other friends to visit. Katie spent the later part of the afternoon with us and both girls made STACKS of valentines to take home.

All this and the girl manages to look chic and relaxed in the new dress she got for her birthday. Check out the poodles on the dress, the pin from Nanagram, and the Pippi longstocking tights. Helena picks out her outfits these days.

So this was another day and Saturday, I will have energy again. In the meantime, Happy Valentines Day....

Whew another crafting day done with the girls!

Well we managed to survive another crafting day with the girls! We are working on crafts for Christmas. In the morning, Helena and I made little Xmas tree ornaments of stockings; Helena decorated them and made presents for Mommy, Daddy, and Pop Punkin (my DH, it is her nickname for him).

This afternoon Katie (our neighbor's daughter) joined us and we did a fun craft that I had read about in a magazine this year. We had bought crayola air dry clay and DH rolled it out for the girls. Then we used cookie cutters to cut shapes out and the girls decorated the shapes with whatever we could find in my craft stash: buttons, glitter, beads, etc. The girls had a blast! They made two trays of ornaments and we still have half of a tub of clay left. Great stuff and they are very excited. Now we are just waiting for the clay to dry out (for the next craft day we will put the ribbons in the ornaments and attach bells to them). A great memory for us all!
