Last night's sunset was glorious and indeed something to like!
I like that the days are light until well after 8 p.m.!
I got the front gardened mulched yesterday. It wasn't an easy job (about 750 lbs. of mulch) but it is done.
The warm winter here made my tree peonies bloom profusely this year! Each bloom is about 2x bigger than my fist!
My husband and I are never bored. But often when I walk Scout, people complain that they are bored during the pandemic. To each his own but I think we could all learn a lot from Katie next door. She is a college sophomore; Brad and I have fondly watched her and her three older brothers grow up. On Saturday I noticed that Katie was dressed particularly festive and I asked if she was going somewhere. "No," she said matter-of-factly, "it's Hawaiian night."
Indeed it was. She had decorated the back porch for a feast, even made paper leis for the family, played Hawaiian music, served virgin pina coladas, and prepared (with her Mom perhaps but Katie is also a good cook) a "Hawaiian Chicken" feast for the family. She said her brothers and even her Dad wasn't thrilled about Hawaiian Night but she didn't care, "We're doing it."
Brad and I giggled at her determination and sure enough, it was a success! A few nights later she coordinated "Greek Night" which included a Greek feast, some togas over their clothing and a family viewing of My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
I imagine the kids (or young adults actually) are missing their friends and family too but it's a tribute to not only Katie but her family that they are finding ways to put some fun in the pandemic.
On that note, I've got to walk Miss Scout and am taking a day to rest my muscles. I hope you find joy through your week!

Beautiful sky, beautiful peonies, too, Michele! I loved your story about your college age neighbor. She sounds like a sweetie! We are never bored at our house, either. I feel sorry for people who are! Have a great, restful day!
Isn't it fun to see what blooms better from one year to the next! We had gorgeous iris in colors I didn't know we had whereas the peonies are puny this year.
Hi Michele! Your sunset photos are gorgeous!! I am enjoying that we have daylight until 8 p.m. as well. Or we do when it finally stopped raining! I applaud Katie for strong-arming her brothers into having fun. That strikes me as the kind of determination our little Addison has - time will tell, though, I guess. Love your likes this week. ~smile~ Roseanne
Beautiful sunset. Oof - that is a lot of mulch. But it looks great! What fun neighbors you have. Those theme nights sound great.
I love Katie! Make life fun or it won't be. Right? What a lesson for us all right now. It's so heavy, but you can still make it Hawaiian night and dress up. I'm trying to wear my pretty "going out" clothes now, for me. Scritches to Scout, and if there are any left over for you and your dh too!
Katie sounds like a fun neighbor! I love her creativity! I love the long days too! I know we're all sort of stuck indoors but that extra light just makes you feel better! Your garden looks great!
Beautiful sky. Yay for Katie. My grandkids have theme nights, days...the other night was BLT night, without the T, none of them like tomatoes. We had a "Grease" movie night. Maybe it says lot of Katie's parents that she is making the best of things.
