I Like Thursdays: November 26, 2020

 Happy Thanksgiving!

We are grateful for so many things and so many people including all our blogging friends!

Thanksgiving is the best day to I have I Like Thursdays!  Hosted by Lee Anna at Not Afraid of Color, we bloggers fill the internet with positive posts!

I am grateful that everyone in my family is healthy and as far as I know, everyone is isolating.  Brad is beginning to recover.  He's in a lot of pain but I talked to the doctor's office and they say that is exactly what is supposed to happen right now.  Brad has been a good patient.  Yesterday he did his first outdoor walk--just 10 minutes but it's a start.  It will be a while before he is off the cane.

I have a sweet story to share with you today.  My cousin's wife shared this adorable post on facebook:

Life advice:  Marry someone who will make spray to "protect" your kids' windows from snakes and spiders when they have two nights of bad dreams about "the spiders crawling up in my bed and want to snuggle me!"  Mom and Dad are tired!

Isn't that sweet?
The little girl sprayed her windows with the bug be gone and I'm sure it made her feel safer!

I'm grateful for humor that has helped sustain us through this long year!

And sweet dogs that follow me like a shadow!

I'm grateful for canned Cranberry Jelly!

And lovely flowers!

I'm thanksful for our foremother suffragists who fought for our right to vote!

I'm grateful for all the fabric that I've hoarded for decades and allowed me to safely shop my stash this past year!

I'm grateful for you!

Have a safe and happy holiday!

To-Do-Tuesday: A day late: 11-25-2020

Sorry I forgot to post yesterday.  I get sidetracked with my husband's care and then remember in the evening what I forgot to do.  Unfortunately, I'm often too tired to catch up then.

I have been binding away at quilts!  Last week's goal was to finish my Christmas quilt binding and that is done!

My only goal for next week is to finish binding the Plus Quilt and then I will be caught up on binding what is here.

Thanks to Roseanne and Sue for keeping us on track with the To-Do-Tuesday linky parties.  Join them or look for inspiration at their website here!

Have a safe and happy day!

Update

Hi All!  Just a quick note that my husband had his surgery yesterday and he made it though okay.  He is home and I am providing him a lot of care.  I think it will be a while before he is truly mobile by himself.

Thanks for all the good thoughts!

Have a safe and happy day!

To-Do-Tuesday: November 16, 2020

Well it's To-Do-Tuesday and time to post our goals for the next week and report how we did last week.  Hosted by Roseanne and Sue at Home Sewn By Us, be sure to check out their blog for lots of inspiration!

Last week's goal list:

1-Finish The Asian Quilt Top:  Not done!  I don't like the top anymore.  I've put it aside until I'm more rested and less stressed.

2-Finish binding Linda's quilt and table runner.  Done!

3-Attach binding to the Christmas quilt.  Done and already started the hand binding.

I'm only going to post one goal for this week because my husband's surgery is today and I'm not sure what kind of care he'll need when he gets home.  So for next week my goal is:

1-Finish binding the Christmas quilt.

Take care and stay well!

Finishes

I'm sure hoping for a day home today.  It seems like everyday is full of busy chores and running my husband or my mother to the doctors or for tests.  Sometimes you just want to stay at home.  Scout would like that too at this point.

I finished a bunch of things and forgot to post them so  I want to do that now as I'm catching my breath.  This is mostly for me at this point to keep record.  October finishes:

Owen's Quilt

Ariana's Quilt and Doll Quilt
Ariana sent me a thank you booklet full of nice photos and a card from her doll Poppy😍
From Poppy:

Nora's Quilt and Doll Quilt

Juju's quilt was already done a while ago but I made her a doll quilt too.  She's only a year old but her mother and grandmother reported that she likes running around with her doll quilt!
This warmed my heart!  I had never thought of a toddler liking something so portable but it makes sense!

Only one November finish so far and that is the House on the Hill quilt.  I have finished binding Linda's table runner but will post a photo of that when I finish binding her lap quilt!

Have a great weekend and stay safe!

I Like Thursday: November 12, 2020

Today is "I Like Thursday" hosted by Lee Anna at Not Afraid of Color.  We post happy thoughts and fill the internet with positive energy.
I like that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the election.

I like unexpected meetings at the park.  We ran into our dear Jessa and her three poodles and had a safe walk and visit.

We've had unusually warm weather and walking has been a pleasure. I've even gotten more gardening done!

This is Kerry (as in County Kerry in Ireland).
She is my mother's new puppy and only 10 weeks old.  I happen to think that my 80 some year old mother is crazy for getting a puppy at this age (also because my mother has multiple health issues).  My youngest brother who lives in Maryland got her to keep my mother company.  Of course he's never around to take care of Mom either....   Kerry is super cute but she is a lot of work.
Scout likes Kerry!
I take Scout over to Mom's once a day and Kerry has taken quite a shine to her new friend.  She follows Scout everywhere and it's difficult to get a photo of them.

One thing for sure, Kerry sure wears Scout out!  That's pretty much all our news this week.  Today Brad gets more tests including the Covid Test.  We are looking forward to him feeling some relief after the surgery on Tuesday!

Have a safe and happy day!

To-Do-Tuesday: November 10, 2020

 It's To-Do-Tuesday!!!!

Today with the help of our friend Roseanne at Home Sewn By Us, we post the goals we hope to meet during the next week.  I like looking at everyone's projects for inspiration and often feel like I'm not alone when I can't finish things as quickly as I would like.  But that is life!

I'm actually surprised because I got all my goals from last week completed!  Sometimes I think just writing these goals once a week can really be helpful.  Even if you aren't thinking about it, you probably are steering yourself towards completing your tasks!

1-Delivered Nora's Quilt:  Done!

2-Finish Binding the Black Quilt:  Done!

3-Finish the Aqua Top:  Done!

4-Take new top to the quilter:  Done!

Here's the aqua top:

The colors are more like this:
I found the blocks when I was cleaning out my UFOs and I couldn't remember why I had them cut out.  They were leftovers from another quilt I made a few years ago:
I decided to just do a simple quilt with the blocks that were leftover but I was still intrigued that I had cut the blocks and then I was intrigued that I had enough of the aqua fabric to sash it.  But by the end of the choice selection, it occurred to me that I had bought extra yardage of both fabrics to make this exact top.  I just like to have some extra quilts for unexpected gifting.

The black quilt will be featured on my Pennsylvania Piecemaker blog today.

Next week's goals:
1-Finish Asian inspired top.
2-Bind Linda's quilt and tabletopper.
3-Attach binding to the Christmas quilt.

I hope you have a wonderful week!  Stay safe!

So Here's Where We Are...

Good morning.  I missed "I like Thursdays" this week.

Hubby is scheduled for surgery on November 17 and I am busily preparing him for that and taking him to appointments he needs to have before the procedure.  He's having a discectomy and should feel some relief after the outpatient surgery.  In the meantime, I'll post when I can.

In the meantime, I am also taking my mother to various doctor appointments too.  It's been busy to say the least (Mom is fine).

Scout is my good helper these days and she often accompanies us to appointments because she and I can sit in the car until the tests or whatever are done.  She's also helps me with my sewing.  She nap tests all the quilts I am binding:

She said this quilt is very sleepable!

She's very helpful at choosing fabrics.  I had a variety of fabrics I was auditioning on the floor.  I learned this method from Gyleen Fitzgerald (if you can ever book her for your guild, she's an amazing speaker).

Scout has definite opinions on fabric choices!

This weekend we are having some wonderfully warm weather and I am busily putting the garden to bed.  Hopefully I'll be back on track next week!

Take care and stay safe!

To-Do-Tuesday--A day late

I'm sorry to be posting late!  I just got done with my Pennsylvania Piecemaker post and then had to rush off to get Brad ready for his appointment with the surgeon.  Good news is that he is getting his discectomy in two weeks and it's outpatient surgery!

Yesterday was To-Do-Tuesday sponsored by the lovely Roseanne at Home Sewn By Us.  We post our weekly goals and I may as well post mine althought I'm a day late.  You can check out all the neat ideas for quilts by visiting Roseanne and all the participants here!

My goal last week was to get Owen's quilt mailed and finish the quilts for the girls--Nora and Arianna.

Owen's Quilt:  Mailed!

Nora and Arianna's Quilts:  Done!

I've already delivered Ariana's quilt because her grandmother lives around the corner.

This week's goals:

1-Mail Nora's quilt

2-Finish binding the black quilt

3-Finish the aqua top

4-Take a new top to the quilter

Have a safe and happy week!
