"I like Thursdays": September 12, 2019

So sorry to have missed last week's posting.  I was under the weather!  Scout commiserated with me in bed.  How are you today?  It's hazy and hot and humid here in eastern Pennsylvania.  Today is Thursday and time for Leeanna's "I like Thursday" positive posts.  You can visit more blogs by visiting Leeanna's blog Not Afraid of Color.

In the garden, we are in desperate need of rain.  The butterflies are gone now but we have a number of small moths hitting the flowers, especially this kind:
I tried to find the name of this kind of moth.  It might be a Silver-Spotted Skipper (don't you love that name?).  They are constantly dancing around the garden and bumping each other off the flowers.

We are in desperate need of rain (storms keep circling our area but very little falls here).  I spend most of my time outside watering.  Blooming now:
Caryopteris.
A great bush, even the leaves are fragrant and the bees adore it this time of year.

Turtlehead.
This flower is native to Pennsylvania and I planted it years ago to amuse the grandkids :)

On Sunday I was well enough to go on a brief tour of some of the historic houses in our neighborhood.  Our favorites were the first and the last house we went to that featured arts and crafts architecture:

Moravian tiles on the front porch of our friend's house!

Have a wonderful day!

I wonder if I have the purple bush... there's some disagreement of whether it's a russian sage or not. It does have scent but not sage scent. LOVE that architecture, love built in bookcases, and carved wood, and the tiles look like a quilt pattern for layer cakes... you could design that girl.
Love to baby Scout who is as delicate as Milo is all boy in looks but I betcha she can play hard like he does. Glad she is caring of you when you're sick. Hope you get rain soon. I'd say look for it as we had a couple big rain storms and cooler weather for a few days, and it usually comes your way after three days. LeeAnna

Hi Michele! I hope you are feeling better, although Scout was a good buddy being so supportive. I love going on house tours - we have one coming up later this month. I'd be happy to send a little bit of rain your way - it's rained every day this week. Monday morning it was a monsoon - I almost had to pull off the road. ~smile~ Roseanne

What a precious picture of Scout--awww....how sweet that he comforted you when you were under the weather...we are hot and humid here AGAIN--hoping for a nice cold front to sweep over us and bring us into true Fall weather....hugs, Julierose

We have been poured on the past 24 hours. Maybe it will swing down and get you. Love your flowers, and what a neat home tour.

I am so happy you are feeling better but how nice to have Scout to cuddle with. I think I might have some of that Turtle head but have been calling it something else.
I too love that built in bookcase/room divider and I noticed the Morris inspired cushion there in the chair. All perfectly suited. I love old houses; they don't build them like they used to. Hope you get some rain!

I'm sorry to hear you were sick last week, Michele - looks like you had good company to help you feel better, though! Your flowers are still pretty in the garden, in spite of the lack of rain. Your weather pattern sounds like ours until very recently! Those are such pretty wood details in those homes you toured!

I hope you're feeling better now. Your garden still looks pretty even though you haven't had a lot of rain lately. What pretty houses in your neighborhood! Such beautiful woodwork!
