Sizzling Saturday

We are abundant with blooms these days.

We've never seen so many butterflies as what we have had this year.
Too hot right now to be outside for long but that is okay.

The boys are upset that they had to have a hair cut early this week.
This is Seamus giving me the evil eye...
Teddy is having a really tough time.  I was up with him most of the night.  I think his backside was shaved too close and he has been distressed about it all week.  He's practicing some avoidance annoyance here.  I do feel bad for him, he is anxious to begin with and usually does okay with the hair cut:
What are you doing today?  Hope you have a wonderful Saturday.  Stay cool!

Do you know Martha?

Because I'm so busy working, I don't have much to share right now.  So I thought I would start a new tradition:  Wednesday's Wonderful Blog.  It's a day when I can point out a blog that I find inspiring.  And that brings us to Martha, do you know Martha?

Martha is the blogger of "Q is for Quilter" and I love her blog because she shares the same passions that many of us adore;  lots of vintage books, patterns, fabric, embroidery, and quilts...I mean does it get any better than that?  It is a highlight of my day when I can take time and just sit and explore all her pages.  Yes, I've been  following her for years but Martha's blog is like a favorite book, you want to go back and reread it often.

So, since some of us are encountering some weather challenges--be it abundant rains, heat, or other, you may want to get a cuppa tea (iced or otherwise) and peruse her blog.  Enjoy the light she brings to the interwebs and Martha, thank you so much for inspiring us all!

Eat your vegies

My husband is home for all of 10 days and he is so excited because we are getting corn on the cob tomorrow!  He doesn't get fresh vegies or fruits in most of the places he works (or rather, he can't eat them because he can't trust anything that isn't cooked).  I'm just glad he is home, he's gone a lot and it seems like such a shame that he is missing the garden and the good weather.

When I am not writing, researching, or gardening, I am getting some sewing in.  At this point, I have a ton of backed up projects and am trying to whip some of them out.  Unfortunately, I've been forgetting to photograph things before I give them to the intended recipients (like over a dozen mug rugs for our doggy daycare).

The seed wall hanging (above) was a simple and quick quilt which I had originally intended to keep but my best friend Linda fell in love with it and so it is going to her eventually (her house is undergoing a major renovation right now).  It was too big for my house anyway and I'll do one for me that has 12 blocks and a better size for our little cottage.  Sorry the photo is so weird but I was running out of battery power. Anyway, I just wanted to touch base and at least get one of my quilts on the blog.  Tomorrow, I'll tell you about somebody wonderful, who's work I just love!

Having a heat wave...

There's a lot to what my friend Pam said yesterday.  She said that preparing for a heatwave is very similar to preparing for a snowstorm.  We do the preliminary work, have books and sewing prepared, and get ready to hibernate for a few days.  I certainly can't complain, it's been a great spring/summer so far and we've got the blooms to prove it!  The roses have never been better and prove the delightful weather; my own roses (above) have been spectacular even our city's rose garden is a breathtaking array of color.

I spent yesterday watering down the garden and have lots of water and jello in the fridge.  The boys are quiet anyway these days, both are getting over some slight illness problems (nothing serious) and need some down time anyway.  So if you are in the heatwave, or one of your own, stay cool and keep drinking fluids!

Have a great day!

Busy days...

Poor Seamus and Teddy, they are bewildered by all the comings and goings on here.  This week Seamus can finally have his teeth cleaned.  His blood work was off for a while and the vet didn't want to chance even cleaning his teeth until his red blood cell count was better...which it is now.

Teddy on the other hand, never has had to have his teeth cleaned.  He practices proper puppy dental hygiene and scrapes all the tartar off his teeth every night when he works on a rawhide.  Seamus is less interested in working the tartar off, he'd really rather play ball.

And I am on the road a lot right now!  I have many bookings for quilt lectures and this year's calendar is really becoming full.  I'm so grateful for the opportunity to visit so many guilds, it's been wonderful and inspiring!  I won't be posting for the rest of the week, just because my schedule is too hectic.
Have a great week!!!

Scenes from the garden

Seamus

Mama Dove in this year's nest

A dry April and a wet May makes a ton of roses in the garden...
Too bad we can hardly be outside to enjoy them, it's been so wet and moldy out!
