nesting quilt
No surprise that I like nesting dolls, but nesting quilt???? Here is what I mean:
Years ago, I stumbled on a pretty ratty looking tied comfort but still inspected it closely. As I felt it, I was relatively certain something unusual was used as batting, so I bought the comfort and went home to explore. Untied it, removed the outer layer and sure enough, there was another quilt:
But wait, there's more!!! It was a two sided quilt! How lucky was I? The quilt does need a binding and hopefully I will get around to that in the next year or two. For now, I'm just happy to have this one!
I will be pulling the Old Maid's puzzle to get you a closer look at that quilt, no problem! It's just on the bottom of the stack right now :)Thursday, February 16, 2012
Old Maid's Puzzle
I'm beginning to catalog my "utility" quilts. This one is from the fifties and it is the kind of quilt we might have taken to the beach or on a picnic. No, I'm not doing that but I remember growing up with quilts like this that we used that way. The workmanship isn't the greatest but I like the odd colorful jumble that it is. We also don't see this pattern very often so it is a neat quilt to have.
Have a great day!

Go see Sarah!!!
Sorry I've been such a slacker lately, I've been busy with juggling writing, lectures and my husband's ongoing battle with cluster headaches (really REALLY bad headaches).
I would be remiss if I didn't send you over to Sarah's. She has some really wonderful embroidery patterns that she has created and is sharing. Go visit her. They are sooooooooooooo cute!
As soon as I can catch my breath, I'll be back, promise! :)
