They're here.........the lifted spears........

Snowdrops
Not far from a river,

in the depthof a wood,

amidst gold autumn debris,

snow, ivy and moss,

- snowdrops -

heads hung demurely

in cold, winter light

stand patient and silent

with spring in their sight.

---Sally Plumb

"Every time you push aside the damp, frosty chestnut leaves...to greet the first snowdrops, the flowers seem to gleam with a purer white; and time cannot wither, nor custom stale, the beauty of Coventry Patmore's line about the snowdrop which always rings in my memory at these times......

'And hails far summer with a lifted spears'"

Hi! I found you through a link from someone (I am easily distracted, and when I started this comment 20 minutes ago, I remembered from when I had come, but now I couldn't tell you if my life depended on it, and my 'history' list isn't providing any insight...). Anyway, I just wanted to say hi. My husband and I are big poodle fans (we've got a 17 year old miniature and a 6 month old goldendoodle at the moment, recently lost out 11 year old standard to bladder cancer and several others through the years to a variety of ailments and age), and I'm always on the lookout for other poodle parents!

I love my snowdrops and think of you every time I look at them. You and Beverly sent me on a quest to find some like his and I finally did and shared them with you. Mine have been blooming for over a month now and no sign of giving up yet. Going to try the waffles soon too. They sound delish.
