Thursday, a day of gratitude...

Good morning, a good day is Thursday.  It's the day we go to the farmer's market, it's almost Friday, and best of all, it's time for "I like Thursdays" sponsored by LeeAnna.

I like mornings.  What is your favorite part of the day?  We are now in a heatwave so we get up early.

We go for an early morning walk before it gets too hot:
The world is like the song, "crazy hazy days of summer":
We see interesting creatures (well interesting to Scout who is still learning).
and dog friends:
at the end of the walk we stop at a neighbors house for
'Coffee with Kathy'
The heat has driven me out of the garden although we have a few seas of coneflowers that I like:
I like that my desk chair is finished.  You might remember we received a set of four chairs from a neighbor.  Three we turned into a planter (two white and one black for the front step):
the last one I am using upstairs in the wreck of the sewing rooms as a desk chair:
It was time to go to the sewing room and my four month old puppy is finally settled enough to accompany me.  I know her schedule and she takes her morning nap with me as I sew.  Sorry for the blurry photo I was trying to keep her calm so she would go back to sleep.
It feels wonderful to sew again.  I'm working a variety of projects.  This week I am piecing blocks for my goddaughter Jana's quilt.  Since I am best in the morning, Scout's schedule works best for me.  Also, despite having central a/c, the attic is far too hot to work in by 2 p.m. because of the direct sunshine.
Are you sewing?  What are you working on?  I hope you are staying cool this summer!  Hugs and have a great day!

Beautiful coneflowers! Lovely garden chair and early mornings are great I think. Staying cooler than usual and far wetter so we are walking dogs between downpours here!

ah the magical morning nap! Scout is adorable. She is so girly! Milo can be far asleep and if I take out the camera or look at him, all four feet flex! Some instinct I guess. I like the new masthead photo

Happy Thursday! I am a morning person, too - in fact I just came home from a morning walk with a friend. I love your Scout's face - so expressive! Your flowers are always so beautiful - I really liked your photo of the sea of coneflowers. I've been sewing on string blocks all week for a string star that I'm designing. It's starting to come together!

I'm with you on early mornings. It's terribly hot here too so that's the only time to be out! Love seeing your bunny, we have one in our backyard that I swear only comes to tease my pups. As soon as they see him he runs off and they chase with all their might but of course never catch him!

When I can get my butt to bed by 11:00 p.m., and when I'm organized and behaving, I set the alarm for 7:00 a.m. and always wake up before it goes off - then I read emails for a bit and then I go for a walk before the day gets too hot. However, I'm such a night owl that I can't often make myself go to bed that early - I'm a midnight girl, so by the time I'm up and at 'em, the temps are starting to steam, or the school foot traffic (during school season) is crazy (we live between two junior schools - TONS of foot and vehicular traffic) so I don't go out. Also - and more of a problem than anything else - I'm basically VERY LAZY and take every excuse not to walk, lol. Oh no - the day ends in a Y - I better not walk! Too hot! Too cold! Too sunny! Too cloudy! An asteroid might fall on me! I'm waiting to find out who the new Dr. Who is so I can't leave the television (and I'll say I'm very pleased with the news that came out today!) :D But mainly - I'm LAZY :D By the way - Dennis and I still go to the window to look out when there's a bunny in the yard - I could do without the piles of bunny poop on my patio, but I do love seeing them, as long as they stay out of my gardens :D
