Snowy Day

It's a snowy day in Pennsylvania.
The dogs are grateful I'll be home today; I think they know how much I dislike driving in the snow.

The kids are off from school!
I'm hoping Helena is making a snowman today...here she is wearing the accessories from our snowman making kit...
Longfellow referred to snow flakes as, "the poem of the air".
Wishing you peace and warmth today!

Yeh Team!

Helena is a cheerleader!!!!

Pop-Pop and I attended the flag football game yesterday where she cheered her second game!  Yeh Helena!!!!
Yeh Helena!!!!!!!!!!!!  We are so proud of how well she can cheer, she is realy wonderful at it !
But one of the funniest things was this little peanut who kept dancing with the girls (white shirt):
All of 2 and 1/2 years old, she wanted to be with the big girls and even.........ran out onto the field during the half time show:
She was clearly the hit of the show and the audience roared with approval :D  We had a great time and can't wait to see Helena's next game!

Fairy Treasure Hunt

The photos pretty much tell the story of the Garden Fairy Treasure Hunt at Nana's this past week.  Unfortunately, I can't rotate the above photo (blogger decided it is going to post it this way despite even my cropping efforts).  The welcome sign is what the girls made on Tuesday to encourage the Fairies to come to the garden.  The girls had so much fun and it kept Helena occupied while I cared for Miles who wasn't feeling so well.

Thanks Dawn!

Our friend Dawn from Cottage State of Mind recently sent a care package to Helena and I.  Thanks Dawn!  The stickers are already going to good craft use and I love LOVE LOVE the bun holder.  I think that is one of the neatest things that has crossed my passed in a long time. SUCH INGENUITY and I love light blue too (how did you know?).

Check out Dawn's blog.  She has only been blogging for a year but her site is so polished and she is always sharing wonderful treasures.  The only way I can describe it is "Eye candy".  I love it!

girl with ball...

A girl in a pink baseball helmet is a wonderful thing...

She can hit a ball and...

Chat with the opposing team as she runs to her base...

Work patiently at her base until...

the urge to draw in the dirt and sing takes over! Oh a girl in a pink baseball helmet is a wonderful thing!

Back to the garden...

Easter is over! We had a lot of people, a lot of food, and much merriment in our little cottage and garden...
Helena found many many eggs and loved her baskets... Miles was adorable and seems to like the new Phillies Jacket we got him :)
Nana Betty loved the new wall hanging for her room and we took her dinner and then out to the terrace where she could enjoy the blooming daffodils, tulips, and cherry blossoms.

It was a wonderful day and very busy. Now I need to clean up and start working again in the garden...Have a wonderful day!

Queen of the Cart!

We have a little game we like to play called "Queen of the Cart" ; it's not unlike 'queen for a day.' If you get a REALLY good bargain with coupons or at an exceptional price, you get to be "queen of the cart." This week I got to be the queen with this exceptional deal. I was shopping for something else and stumbled upon this pink wool coat ---just perfect for Helena to wear for Easter and a nice extra present for her birthday this week...

I love the little pattern on it, the little roses and it comes with a hat!!!!
And I be the queen of the cart for getting this deliciuos set at a reasonable $7!!!!!

PS--can you believe we gave this to Helena today and I forgot to take my camera??? Well anyway she loved the coat and all her other gifts and wore the coat and hat while we visited :)

Cheer for Mom!

We love the grandkids but they are a HANDFUL!!! Yesterday I had both Helena and Miles; it got to be a bit much so I called in reinforcements! YAAA for my Mom who came and kept Helena busy with crafts (here she is in her killer bee ensemble).

I needed reinforcements because Miles is a whopping 15 lbs at this point (and the little guy is only 10 weeks old!) and he was little under the weather. He was congested and had problems breathing whenever I layed him down. So I ended up rocking him through most of the day. All I can are two things: Don't think I can take care of both kids at the same time right now and THANKS MOM!
This is the first week that Miles seems to be enjoying is Nuk. He was really sucking on it and puts his fingers to his mouth now :)
He is soooooooooooooooo cute!

Road Trip

On Wednesday, Aunt Carole and I took Helena and Logan to Roadside America. Logan loves trains and I thought Helena might enjoy it as well. Kids are funny. We left at 11 am and the kids didn't really speak much to each other on the way down; it had been a while since they had seen each other. One McDonald's Happy Meal and a visit to Roadside America, and the kids didn't stop chattering all the way home!

Roadside America is a warehouse of a miniature town. Around our part of Pennsylvania we call this a "putz"--a representation of our lives that we would put around our Christmas tree (complete with train). This one takes the cake though...it is huge! Includes everything you could imagine---including an airport, all sides of industry, numerous trains (and trolleys), farmland and village are represented:

Below: This is the circus come to town, the circle spins so the kids can see all the entertainers and animals.
