I like Thursdays: October 7, 2021

It's Thursday and time to post the things that have made us happy, grateful, or positive this week!  Join the positive moment by visiting Lee Anna at Not Afraid of Color!

This week I'm grateful that my sewing room is a mess.  All it means is that I'm getting things done as I continue to use up scrap fabric.  Speaking of sewing...

My Pfaff sewing machine is repaired and I just got it back!  I like my Featherweight but there's a lot it doesn't do as efficiently as the Pfaff.  Each year my guild collects placemats that we make for Meals on Wheels seniors.  It's a great way to use up scraps and I have a stack of placemats that I want to use the Pfaff to machine quilt!

Plus I will finish a  little embroidery that I finished and will make into a wall hanging.  I've had this orange and green odd fabric scrap for years but I decided to use it up this year and made this little sunbonnet:

This week the weather has been warm but cloudy.  It's been pretty good walking weather and Scout and I have been enjoying a walk or two in the park each day!

Anyone who has done caregiving knows what a tough job it can be.  I'm so grateful for my brother Jim who shares the responsibility with me.

My husband Brad is also a big help and often calms me when I am frustrated.  I'm grateful for the two of them and also my friends who are caring for their elderly parents too.  We exchange ideas, vent, and make each other laugh.

Wishing you a safe and happy weekend!

You are fortunate to have a support system. We had invalid MIL living with us for almost 10 years. We would be crazy by now if she hadn't been able to hire super caregivers. Nevertheless, the responsibility was still taxing. Enjoy your fall weather while you can!

I'm dreaming of cooler weather. Never had such a siege here in the Denver area.., still so hot we can't sleep as the nightime lows won't come in the house despite fans to pull it in. Too hot for Milo who runs to a tree and lays down
so cute the sunbonnet sue with pumpkin

I promise to go hug my Pfaff just as soon as I finish writing this! I do appreciate her very much! Your placemat is neat, and the adorable pumpkin sunbonnet Sue, too. Caregiving for our elderly parents is definitely a big job - I'm thankful to have my sister to share it with me just like you are with your brother.

It's always tough when your favorite machine is away! Yay for having help - care giving can be so much work!

Caregiving is so hard! It's great to have someone to talk to. I just had my machine serviced last month. I was so happy to get her back!

You are so kind to donate your projects to such worthy groups. I really like that Halloween Sunbonnet Sue.
Yes, it is essential to have lots of support. It is so much better to be sharing the chores but even then one must take care of yourself too.
My little Brother has been a real workhorse for me. Take care!

Hi Michele! Those placemats for Meals on Wheels look great. Whenever I see yours, it makes me want to call and see if our program needs some placemats. What a wonderful way to cheer up a meal! I am so glad you feel supported in the caregiving arena. It is a lot of work and stress - so nice to be able to share the burden. {{Hugs}} Happy Thursday to you. ~smile~ Roseanne

The placemats are awesome. Glad you have people to share the load with when it comes to caregiving. How nice that you and Scout can get some walks in during the day.
