Good morning! Today is "I like Thursdays" when we fill the internet with positive posts! Hosted by LeeAnna, find entertaining and happy energy by visiting her and the other bloggers here.
Today's theme is making lemonade out of lemons!
Brad had his two week post surgery appointment this week. The good news is that he is healing exactly as expected (slowly). The really good thing that is that we met with the Physician's Assistant and she answered a lot more of our questions.
Turns out that hubby has the worse kind of disk herniation and that the recovery is a minimal of 3 months. Or longer? Couple the injury with the fact that it took months before the hospital system/insurance companies allowed him to have the surgery and you have a long convalescence.
This is actually good news; we know to relax now and just take it as it comes. But here is what we are SUPER grateful for: He got the surgery before the office closed (they expect that will happen and even his next post-op appointment is scheduled for a phone consultation). My husband is safe and home during what surely will be the worse covid surge.
Baby it's cold outside!
I'm grateful for silk underwear! If you don't have them and have to walk your dog frequently like I do or if you just like walking, I highly recommend them! They are like long underwear but thin as silk and boy do they keep you warm!
This is Kerry, my mom's new puppy. Brad and I call her the Tazmanian Devil or Taz for short. So the good news is that Scout likes playing with her..for about 10 minutes. When Scout has had enough, she sits down and while the puppy is jumping all over her, you can tell that look on Scout's face means, "Please make it stop." π
Kerry has a virus and is now quarantined as well. She'll be fine. The good news? Scout didn't catch it. The other good news? I figured out what to get my mother and her new puppy for Christmas:
A hand held carpet stain eraser made just for pets!ππππ
I already had it delivered to my mother and she was really appreciative of it!
So this past week I mostly just kept hearing the song, "Always look on the bright side of life..." in my head. I hope you are keeping your sense of humor too!
I hope you are all well, wearing your masks and staying safe!
Have a great weekend!

Looking on the bright side is a good practice, especially this year! It's good to know that Brad is healing as expected, even if it is progressing slowly. Not good to know about Dr's offices closing again, though - yikes! Like you guys, Mike needs regular appointments right now because of his cancer, and we hate to see that interrupted! Silk long underwear sounds helpful - I like to walk outside all through the winter!
Hi Michele! I think looking on the bright side of things is definitely my motto. You listed SO many great things about DH's surgery. I'm so glad the PA could answer your questions and ease your mind. Yes, yes, YES to silk underwear!! I can just picture Scout's face regarding Kerry. Just a few more months and Kerry will settle down and what a great gift for your Mom! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
You have the perfect attitude! Let's just be grateful for what we have. It could be much worse. I think your husband is going to be okay. It will take time but he's getting there. I love hearing about your mom's dog! Hope he calms down soon! Have a wonderful week!
LOL, now I'll have that song stuck in my head. Love Monty Python. Yay for expected healing (and getting questions answered). Taz - what a name. Youngsters always have such abundant energy!!
I walk my Gracie every morning for a few miles and I never heard of silk underwear. Definitely going to look into them and maybe put a word into Santa's ear! Oh puppies are such a joy .... and such a pain all rolled up into one! When we first got Gracie, I looked into getting a steamer spot remover but could never find one. She really doesn't need me to get it for her anymore but it wouldn't hurt to have one in the house (just in case!).
I think I can hear the lift in your words as I read your post. It sounds like quite the process to navigate the medical stuff and so happy it is behind you and you both can relax and get all the healing done too. I always tell folks that I find my silk scarves warm; I never ever thought of silk underwear which I'm sure would be too. That was a most thoughtful gift for your Mom. Very cute puppy! A lovely post!
Awesome post. Always look for the good out of everything. Keeping your hubby and you in my thoughts and prayers. What better time to heal than during a quarantine? The pup is cute, but man that is a lot to take on when you are older. Unfortunately Taz and my Bobbin sound like they may be related, she can be that way around the kitties.
