I Like Thursdays: October 30, 2025

Hello!  It's "I like Thursdays" and time to post positive things on the internet.  For more posts, check out Lana's blog at "Not Afraid of Color!"

Good news so far for our neighbor Dave who has been battling cancer.  The chemotherapist said his blood lab results look "real good"!  That's reason enough to celebrate!

Brad and I took a road trip up to Kutztown and visited the farmer's market and antique mall.  Our friends have a stand at the antique area and we had a blast hanging out with them!

Our area is officially in a drought.  What's positive?  We are getting rain as I write this and it is supposed to rain all day!

The prompt this week is about Halloween.  Do we give out food or dress-up while we are doing that?

I do give out candy but we are mostly an older neighborhood.  Still it's fun to see whatever children do show up.  I do not dress up for Halloween.  Do you?

Have a safe and happy weekend!

I Like Thursdays: October 23, 2025

Greetings!

It's "I Like Thursdays" and time to fill the internet with positive energy.  You can find more posts by visiting our hostess, LeeAnna here.
I like that we got a little rain this past week.  Not enough to fill the creeks yet but it's better than nothing!

It's been a bit of a chaotic few days with caregiving and taking people to appointments.  It makes me grateful for coffee in the morning and a puppy on my lap in the evening.

This week's prompt:  Lana asked if we use a blower for leaves or rake them.
I use a blower.  It's faster and easier and it gets rid of more tree debris (like seeds and needles).

Have a safe and happy weekend!

I Like Thursdays: October 16, 2025

Can you believe we are halfway through October?

Crafters probably begin their holiday sewing in July because by October the days slip by quickly.

Today is "I like Thursday" and time to celebrate the good in life.  For more positive posts, visit LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color.

This week's likes:

*We got some rain and yesterday, the ground was soft enough to get some gardening done.  There's plenty more to do but it's a start.

I love my brother and since his wife passed, he has taken up cooking.  He provides meals for my mom, me and Brad, his grandson, and daughter.  My husband LOVES his meals and I love not having to think about cooking.  This past weekend he made a lasagna type casserole but used tortellini.  My husband dubbed this torti-sagna.  He now watches youtube regularly for new recipes and techniques.  I think this is a really good thing to keep him busy and feeling useful.

Speaking of food, Lana asked this week what food would we take to a fall gathering or reach for first at the gathering.  I would probably take a salad or lasagna.  I would first reach for the sweets.

Have a safe and happy day!

I Like Thursdays: October 9, 2025

Greetings!  It's time for "I like Thursdays" hosted by Leeanna at Not Afraid of Color.  You can visit her website for more uplifting posts!

It rained a bit on Tuesday night into Wednesday.  It wasn't a whole lot but it was at least (hopefully) a beginning for more precipitation.

The leaves have just started turning and for once, I'm grateful for the change of seasons.  The somewhat cooler weather means I can spend more time in the sewing room.  The summer was so hot that my attic sewing room was at times, intolerable to be in.

Our quilt guild had a show over the weekend that was very successful.  It was so much fun to see everyone's work and meet new quilters!  I also got a nice stack of fabric from the boutique sale and am already working on a project!

I finished Jenny's quilt and gave that to her on Tuesday.

Lana's prompt this week is about featuring our favorite comfortable clothes for autumn.  It's still fairly warm here but occasionally I'm wearing my old grey sweatshirt.
Boring right? 😃

Hope you are having lots of time to sew and are having a good autumn!

Have a safe and happy weekend!

I Like Thursdays: October 2, 2025

Hello and welcome to another "I like Thursdays" post.  Hosted by LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color, we share what is positive in our little corner of the internet.  Do visit her blog to see other positive posts!

For some time I've been taking my neighbor for radiation four times a week.  His son would take him on chemo day.  On Tuesday, Dave got to "ring the bell" signally that his treatment--for now--is finished.  We won't know how effective the treatment was until about a month when they can scan him again.  We are all praying it worked.

I celebrated Dave's completion by actually doing some sewing yesterday.  I'm hoping to get a new top done in the next week or so.  It feels good to be back in the sewing room!

Speaking of sewing, our Crazy Quilters Guild is having a quilt show this Saturday!

I'm working there from 1-4 p.m. but I'm going over early to buy fabric and whatever else I find.  It's my birthday and when I told Linda about the sale, she told me to buy as much as I possibly can.  So there!

Lana's prompt this week is about gingerbread.  I do love gingerbread and love the cookies I used to make with the recipe from Mrs. Field's Cookie Book.  I also like regular old gingerbread, especially with lemon sauce.

I haven't had any in years because no one else in my family likes gingerbread and I end up eating way too much myself.  Do you like gingerbread?

Wishing you a safe and happy weekend!
