To-Do-Tuesday: October 6, 2020

Coolest morning we have woken up to this morning, 43 F degrees!  Today is To-Do-Tuesday and time to post goals for the coming week.  Hosted by dear Roseanne at Home Sewn By Us, you should visit some of the participants for inspiration!

Last week's goals:
1-Finish assembling 4 patches of asian fabric:  Done!
2-Bind doll quilts--not done (on purpose).

Hubby went for his MRI last week and we got the results: 2 herniated disks.  He sees the surgeon this Friday.  He's doing okay as long as he has pain management.

So now there's been a bit of change of plans for me.  Not so much sewing wise but I want to get things set up because it is likely Hubby will need surgery.

I started the Fall cleaning yesterday in anticipation of this.  Normally I do this during the last weekend after  Thanksgiving and then decorate for Christmas (hahahaha, back then I was younger and could do the house in 3-4 days).  Now I do about a room a day to save my back.  I want things set up, food in the freezer ready to go so I can just concentrate on his needs after surgery.  Because of this, the only goal I have for the coming weeks is to attach bindings on quilts I've been stacking up for the winter.

I dislike binding in the summer because it's just too hot.  But binding in the winter is lovely and so calming to have a nice warm quilt on one's lap!  I think I have 5 on the pile right now and one more at the quilter's.  I also want to make sure I have my embroidery ready and a good lamp by my chair (where hubby sits these days blocks the best light in the living room).

Hope you and yours are all doing well!  Stay safe and have a good day!

Take care of your beau. I hope the surgery fixes his pain.

Hi Michele! Oh, I am so sorry about DH's herniated disks. Ouch and I am also sorry he has to have surgery. I like sewing down binding, too. Actually just about anytime of year because I'm always a coldy cat, even in the summer a/c. It sounds like you are setting both of you up for success. {{Hugs}} I hope the surgery is very successful and he will be on the upswing soon. Thank you for linking up this week! ~smile~ Roseanne

At least now you know and can plan for surgery and aftercare. Binding quilts sounds like the perfect activity for these days. Thinking of you!

Finally! A plan to hopefully relieve his pain! And it sounds like you have a plan also! Take care of him and take care of yourself! Glad you have binding and stitching to occupy your quiet time!

Sorry to hear about your hubby's back issues; they are no fun. Sounds like you have a good plan in mind, anticipating his surgery, etc. I agree that cuddling under a quilt while binding it is perfect for the cool fall/winter months!

It sounds like you will be such a great assistant to the patient...if he has to have surgery. Back problems are never fun. I hope you get the house cleaned and all your projects ready to work on when you can.

Happy binding! Good luck to your hubs. I've had back surgery and metal pieces to show for it. (I don't know that his will be the same but those first days, the hardest part was going from sitting to standing when the weight would settle on my lower spine that had just been cut up. Not to scare hubs, just a heads-up for you!) Hopefully his won't be as complicated or painful, or maybe not even need surgery?

Oh my, herniated discs sounds so painful and two of them! You are so right to get everything all set up now while you have the time and mindset to do so. I was a Girl Guide and live by the old motto when I can, Be Prepared! Good luck with your preparations.
