I Like Thursdays: October 29, 2020

Hi there!

How are you doing today?  It is dreary and rainy in Pennsylvania as the remnants of Hurricane Zeta pass through.  Today is "I like Thursday" and we post positive things in order to make the internet a more tolerable place.  Check out other posts by visiting Lee Anna our hostess!

I like new flower pots and planning next spring's garden!  My neighbor gave me some of the pots her late 88 year old mom used and I love them!
My two favorite are below.  I love how weathered they are!

This one is my absolute favorite!
I can't wait to fill them with flowers!

Speaking of flowers, my backyard mums finally bloomed and then promptly fell over:

Love how this Nikko hydrangea turns a deep rose this time of year...versus the snowball hydrangea which definately would fit into our friend Jocelyn's category of "ugly garden."
I love this phrase by Jocelyn (over at Canadian Needle Nana) and I wonder if she realizes how many people she impacted with this description?

Scout's favorite toy has always been Rocky Raccoon.  She received him when she was still a baby and he was bigger than her back then!

This week she finally found out that there was a toy in the toy, a very nice ball that she enjoyed playing with in the living room!

She still loves Rocky best, even if he is just a shell of the toy he once was 😁

I don't have much else to report.  I'm taking care of Hubby (the epidural didn't work) and walking the dog and binding quilts.

I hope you are all staying safe and well!  Have a great day!

Hi Michele! Oh no - I was certain that DH was on the mend. I hope there's a new plan in place. I am sending over some prayers and {{hugs}}. Scout looks so cute with her Rocky baby. It's funny that they stick with them even after the stuffing and everything is out. And she just NOW found the toy inside?!! Goofy girl. She's a love. ~smile~ Roseanne

I think ugly garden resonated with me! DH is always good about cleaning up our yard! I mentioned the idea to him...both because I know it’s getting harder for him and it benefits the creatures. I think this year, because we had snow before all the leaves are down, and we will be gone for the month of December , my garden will be one of the “ugly ones”! And it’s Ok!

the epidural didn't work for me either, I didn't want to tell you but...
Scout's eyes are so like Milos expression. He found the same REALLY squeaky spikey ball in his toy too. As much as he loves a squeak he doesn't play with that too much as he prefers a soft toy. He was really gray all over his tummy during grooming yesterday so he may still be changing color at 3! Well their Mama had a lot of gray in her. Aren't these two good company?
I like the look of really weathered pots, like old friends

Your bright yellow mums are so pretty! I got a pot at the grocery store and planted them- they bloomed very briefly and promptly all wilted. I don't think I have much luck with mums! Scout is super cute playing with her toys. My pups are such great snugglers as the weather turns colder...

Love these photos of your Scout. I bet she is a special comfort these days.
Our Murphy, at 10.5 no longer plays with toys. I've bought her several to tempt her, but no, though she will carry around our slippers sometimes.
Thanks for mentioning me and the ugly garden. My white hydrangeas are quite the sorry mess too now. But the ugly garden has attracted the chickadees, goldfinches, wrens, juncos and northern flicker so far. I know I'm lucky this is not a suburb where keeping it like this would not be kosher with the neighbours. LOL Raining here today too.

Hi,
Love all your pots...so pretty, they will be beautiful with flowers in them. Your Mums and Hydrangea are beautiful...my mums always fell over too. What a surprise for Scout...a new toy. Have a great day!

We definitely lean towards the ugly gardening, too. Those pots are cool. Scout is always a cutie. Hope Hubby feels better soon.

Scout is such a pretty girl! I love all kinds of flower pots, too - it's fun to have different ones around the yard. I'm so sorry to hear the epidural didn't work for your husband. Sending positive thoughts that something will!

Oh I am sorry the procedure didn't help the hubby. Scout is so pretty. Love the pots you acquired, I agree I like how they are worn. I like fall ugly gardens, they provide cover for birds and small mammals.
