I Like Thursdays: August 19, 2020

My blogging friends and I post positive things on the internet on Thursdays, thanks to our sweet hostess LeeAnna.  Be sure to check out the other bloggers as well for some happy thoughts and inspiration!  Here are things I like and love!

Tuesday was the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. I have loved studying and writing about the suffragists and all the wonderful women and men I met on my Pennsylvania Piecemaker blog!  Check out the blog to see the quilts that five women made in honor of the centennial (here)!

Next week I'll be moving onto a new theme on that blog:  "Blooming Where We're Planted."  It will feature a wide variety of features on various topics, mostly sewing themed, inspiring women, coping, and the creative process.  It seems like these days we all need some diversions and positive energy.  Join us if this sounds like a dose of happiness that you need.

I have found that the Democratic Convention is the best thing on tv this week.  The message is of hope and unity and the America that I grew up believing in.

In the garden:  I love that the cayenne pepper is keeping the groundhogs and squirrels at bay!  Now we get nightly visits from our local cat population!

Last weekend the weather was good and I made a garden border more senior friendly by reducing it's space.  Pulled out a lot of plants, built a wall around the old bed (which is taller than it looks on the photo, I set down a lot of mulch).  We pulled out some 1960s furniture we bought at a flea market before the pandemic.  Hubby is going to strip and repaint them.  It will be a nice seating area

I like starting flowers from seeds.  This year I planted a new marigold called Mission Giant Yellow and they finally began blooming this week!  I love the texture of these marigolds!  We call them "Fuzzy Wuzzies"!

The weather had been better and this girl and I have been going for more walks!

Have a safe and happy day friends!

seeing that pic of Scout makes me so happy! What pretty white teeth you have Scout! Be careful of refinishing lawn furniture, I got some beauties years ago, for a song, and in the refinishing and painting, I torqued my knee and now have a permanent injury. DH said it was the most expensive cheap furniture I ever bought!
that nightly cat is looking right at the hidden camera... how do they know?

Like your new seating area! We have been doing the same lately! “Downsizing “ the outside areas! This getting old isn’t for “sissies”!

What a great picture of Scout - she's smiling at us! Your new seating area looks fun, and with cute furniture waiting to be refinished. I'll enjoy your new theme on the other blog, too!

I visited your Piecemakers blog and saw those lovely quilts and you sure are right about the thought that was put into them. I wonder how many issues, problems, etc. have been settled over tea! The Kennedy women famously held tea parties to promote their little known brother at the time, John.
Meanwhile, lots of lovely likes here, Michele especially you and Scout getting in good walks.

I will continue lurking at Pennsylvania Piecemakers. Love the marigold. I know funny, but not funny...squirrels, ground hogs gone. Enter the felines... Your new lawn furniture is lovely, can't wait to see it painted.

I have not planted flowers from seed in some time. I would love to build a small greenhouse to start all of my garden in...vegetables and flowers.

Your first photo, is it at your home? It is so beatiful!

I love the new area you made to sit outdoors. It looks very inviting! My neighbor had marigolds lining their walkway every year when I was a little girl. I always loved their color. I guess cats don't mind cayenne pepper! Scout looks happy!
