I Like Thursdays: July 30, 2020

Good morning and how are you today!  It's Thursday and that means "I like Thursdays" and time to fill the internet with positive energy.  Visit our hostess LeeAnna for more positive posts!

"Operation Peppermint" appears to be working and my husband is home in time to eat our fresh tomatoes!  I did bolster our 'mater defense as well.   I sacrifice one and put it on the wall near the trees where the squirrels live.  They did eat an entire tomato in two days and now I gave them another fresh one.  As my husband said, "we sacrifice a few for the many."  I'm also picking them before they turn red.

The butterflies have returned!  I also have Luna and Monarch butterflies but for whatever reason, I can't download the photos right now.

We also have a teeny weeny baby bunny in our garden.  I saw him in the front yard but he has made his way to the backyard now.  He looks bigger on this photo than he is (or maybe this is Mama bunny). I hope the wee thing makes it without the ferrel cats or foxes getting it.  I've been spotting it in the yard for about a week--and Miss Scout only realized yesterday  there was a bunny around.  We won't let her chase it and Scout is being a good girl.

I like this meme:
I hope so.

I like Piecework magazine.

I subscribed to it when the pandemic broke out and received my first issue this month.  It has lovely stories about all kinds of sewing/hand crafts and I read it from cover to cover!

On TV, I like the new HGTV show, "Build Me Up!"  It's an uplifting show and the designer Orlando Soria is sweet and amusing.  Tomorrow we finally get a gardening show on HGTV!  Yippee!

Well I am going to NOT water the garden today and work in the sewing room.  Have yourself a safe and happy day!

I LOVE the meme of gray haired women! Isn't that one beautiful, and I can just imagine how smart and funny and kind she is. We have so much to offer, and get ignored. I want to look as fit and strong as she is! I just moaned looking at all the gray I've developed since the pandemic! But look at her go!

we have a teensy little bunny too, who runs from Milo then comes right back, we must have excellent grass. It is free of chemicals for sure, unlike the rest of the 1000 homes in this hood.
haven't heard of that magazine...
tomatoes!!! yea! Love the idea, if you can't fight 'em, join 'em by nailing one to the tree, and like your husband's comment.

Hi Michele! I also love the meme about the gray-haired women. If they did take over, common sense would rule along with an overall calmness. If only. Yay for the tomato sacrifice and especially for the butterflies. Happy Thursday! ~smile~ Roseanne

What a sweet post. Great ideas on the squirrel defense. Good poster on radical women.

I haven't subscribed to Piecework in years; I didn't realize it is still being published. Like you, I always read it cover-to-cover. At the time I was into 19th century living history and I found a lot of tips on period sewing and crafting in Piecework.

I used to get Piecework at the library and always found it interesting. A great idea to foil those squirrels. Home grown tomatoes are worth the effort I think. I love that quote and wish it could be true. The men have had their kick at the can; it's time we were given a try...certainly couldn't do much worse.

I'm glad you figured out a way to not lose all of your tomatoes to the squirrels! We have just harvested the second tomato off our plant - so yummy! That meme is great - I have been so impressed with the Wall of Moms women in Portland and in other cities, too. Hope you have had a fun sewing day!

It was you, that mentioned squirrels eating your tomatoes....soon I had a tomato on my porch with a bite out, and some gravelly looking stuff on my deck. I googled it. Squirrel poop. They say they eat tomatoes for the water, my tomatoes they were eating were green. I even put out bowls of water for them. Sigh. Peppermint may be next. I have that meme about women from a few years ago, when I decided at 52 to allow my hair to go completely gray.
