I Like Thursday and a Giveaway! October 31, 2019

Happy Halloween!

Our favorite trick or treater was Gavin, he's my friend's grandson.  He's was dressed as a sloth.  Isn't he adorable?

As you can tell from our first photo, the leaves are finally turning.  We also have been getting frequent rains and with the current warm weather, we've had some nice reblooms like the foxgloves!  Some flowers I picked and put in my new vase.  It's raining today and I wanted something nice things in the house to cheer the day.

We have a bird living in our backyard.  It's a small mourning dove and I am not sure what happened to it but I'm fairly sure there is something wrong with it's wing.  He's been living in the backyard for over a week.  I've been making sure he has water and there are always seeds on the ground here in our garden.  Please don't tell me to catch him and help him, I've already tried.
I ended up resolving that he is somewhat safe here at Hotel Michele.  He has food and water and I did see he managed to get up on the garage roof at one point.  Birdie is safe here.  Scout has no idea he is here (she's a bit obtuse to put it mildly) and he is safe in our garden from the ferrel cats.  Hopefully his wing will heal during his stay here.

A Giveaway!

This week on our suffrage blog we had a feature on suffrage and animals.  As part of that theme, we are offering a giveaway of a charm pack of woof woof meow fabric and the book. It's Quilting Cats and Dogs.  To compete for the prize, just leave a message on the blog post here.

Find more "I Like Thursday" posts at LeeAnna's here.

Hope you are enjoying the autumn where you are and Happy Halloween!

it's a mark of good character that someone is kind to those less powerful or injured. I know someone who smirks at kindness to animals but I applaud your gentle care taking. Headed over to enter your contest... hopefully I can! Thanks Leeanna

Hi Michele! I love that photo on your blog header - beautiful flowers. Could little Gavin get any cuter? A sloth - that's a clever idea. And he didn't mind keeping the hat on! We struggle with that and Dominic. Aww, that's sweet that Hotel Michele is open for wounded birds. I had to giggle about Scout being a bit obtuse. HA! That is very cool that the suffrage blog is giving away some fabric and a book. Fascinating! I never really thought about animals being used in the suffrage campaign. Hmm, I think I need to read that book very thoughtfully. Thanks for the link. I'm going to browse around. ~smile~ Roseanne

Birds are safe in our yard, too! Hopefully your feathered friend is healing and able to fly off when the time is right. I am really enjoying your suffrage posts!

Love that Scout is a bit obtuse. Bobbin loves to chase the starlings.....I am definitely not a fan of those. Pretty flowers we re getting a lot of rain.

That sloth is cute! The flowers are pretty - and I hope your mourning dove recuperates.

It seems your gentle dove has found a sanctuary in your yard, Michele. I am so glad about that. Here we have a wild bird rescue center that you can bring birds to (if you can capture them, they recommend throwing a towel over them). But sometimes birds do just need rest to heal.
Little kids in costumes are so cute. I love it.

That's so sweet of you to take care of the mourning dove. I hope it gets better. Our leaves are starting to fall off the trees. We've had quite a bit of rain and wind lately. The colors were pretty before they fell off the trees! Beautiful flowers!
