I purchased this coverlet a while ago and have been studying it lately. It reminds me of Ruby McKim's angular animals but I'm not sure if it is hers or not. I do think it is kit quilt and will have to look it up soon. Anyway, it sure is interesting...
My friend Janette works on McKim patterns frequently so I am a-calling out to her......
Greyhound dog?

Those animals are adorable!
Hi Mickie --
I bought a copy of this pattern on ebay which is still being sold under the name "Patchy Zoo Animals" quilt pattern (there are actually two different but similar patterns with the same name offered by the seller). The seller claims it was published in 1932 and is currently in the public domain (since 1961), although there is no other information on the publisher. The pattern is clearly for applique and not embroidery -- I was thinking it might be an old McCalls or Simplicity, but I haven't been able to confirm this so far -- all of the original information had been removed on the photocopies I received.
If you do a search on ebay for "Patchy Zoo Animals" you'll see it.
That is really cute! It does remind me of Ruby's style. You could do a google search on her name, and should be able to find the website where her original patterns are still being sold.....and see if it's there.
